The first female Prime Minister in the history of Japan, Sanae Takaichi, thanked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for congratulating him on his appointment to the post. She expressed her "deepest respect" for Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people and expressed confidence in strengthening the partnership between the countries.
She wrote about this on the social network.
"President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, I am sincerely grateful for your warm words of greeting. I express my deepest respect for the courage of President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine, who are resisting aggression day after day. I am confident that relations between our countries will continue to strengthen within the framework of our special global partnership, and I look forward to cooperation with President Zelenskyy," Takaichi responded to the Ukrainian President's greetings.
Earlier, Zelenskyy welcomed the Prime Minister to his post and stressed that Ukraine deeply appreciates Japan's general support since the start of the full-scale invasion. He also expressed hope for further strengthening of the partnership in connection with common challenges in Europe, the Indo-Pacific region and around the world.
"Together we can strengthen and ensure security in our regions and beyond," he added.
