Visit to White House did not go as Zelenskyy hoped - German Chancellor Merz

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stressed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the United States did not go as he had hoped and showed how much Ukraine needs European help.

This is announced in Merz's statement, which is cited by the portal of the German broadcaster N-tv.

Merz said that after the talks between Zelenskyy and Trump, he had a long conversation with the Ukrainian President.

"The visit did not go as Zelenskyy had hoped. I think I can say it here," he added.

According to the Chancellor, this makes European help even more important, because the war can only be ended if Ukraine has military strength.

He said that he would work to support Ukraine "financially, politically and, of course, militarily."

Surrender is not an option for Ukraine, because then russia will attack the next European country, he emphasized.
