The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has announced that work has begun on repairing damaged external power lines at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP after a four-week power outage.
This was stated in a statement by the IAEA posted on the agency's social media page.
According to the agency's Director General, Rafael Grossi, the repairs were made possible after local ceasefire zones were established, which allowed for safe access to the facility.
Grossi stressed that restoring external power supply is critical for nuclear safety and the protection of the facility, as the plant has been operating on backup diesel generators for a long time.

The IAEA notes that both sides of the conflict have been constructively cooperating with the agency to implement a complex repair plan.
The Zaporizhzhia NPP has been under the control of russian occupation forces since 2022, and the IAEA has repeatedly warned of risks to nuclear safety due to hostilities around the plant.
