Gas consumption is currently much higher than in the same periods last year, which is associated with its use for heating, but saving the resource remains extremely relevant in the context of russian attacks on gas infrastructure.
This was reported by the deputy chairman of the supervisory board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Natalia Boyko, the Interfax-Ukraine website reports.
"We must accept the fact that the autumn-winter period will be difficult, and if we consume something today, we may not have it in February," Boyko said during a thematic session of the Kyiv International Economic Forum in Kyiv on Thursday.
"I urge you to save the resource as much as possible. Consumption is growing. We are consuming much more now than last year in the same period," she added.
According to her, from Monday to Thursday alone, consumption increased by about 20%.
At the same time, Boyko emphasized that this is a very difficult year due to the attacks of the russian federation, as they have become more massive and severe than in previous years.
A member of the Naftogaz Executive Board explained that the russian federation's attacks on gas in February of this year, despite the large losses in production, posed fewer problems, since it was on the eve of spring and warming.
According to her, the current massive attacks, of which there have been six since the beginning of October, are perceived much more severely due to the onset of the cold period.
Boyko emphasized that both state and private companies are restoring a lot of what was destroyed, and the priorities for the Naftogaz are restoration, as well as additional attraction of imports.
