Angels of Navy freed Ukrainian defenders from slavery in occupied Luhansk Region

The special unit of the Ukrainian Navy "Angels" conducted a successful operation to free two Ukrainian defenders - a 29-year-old veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a 34-year-old serviceman of the National Guard, who had been missing for more than three years. As it turned out, both men were in captivity and in fact in slavery in the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk Region.

The operation took place in cooperation with the Military Ombudsman Olha Reshetylova. It was she who was contacted by the mother of the veteran, who also currently serves in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She reported that her son, after many tortures, is hiding in the occupied Luhansk Region, escaping persecution.

During the verification of this information, it was possible to establish that another Ukrainian serviceman, a National Guard soldier, who was held in slavery by a local collaborator, was being held nearby.

According to Artem Dyblenko, a special intelligence officer of the Navy "Angels", the operation was complex and carried out with increased risk:

"In fact, we conducted two parallel special operations - each of the guys was evacuated via separate routes. The veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the serviceman of the National Guard did not know the details of the plan, but they completely trusted us and clearly followed all instructions," Dyblenko said.
