Israel and Hamas accuse each other of violating ceasefire - Reuters

Israel and Hamas have announced a ceasefire violation and renewed shooting, Reuters reported on Thursday, October 16.

Israeli government spokesman Shosh Bedrosian said the country remained committed to the agreement and continued to abide by its commitments. At the same time, a senior Hamas official accused Israel of violating the ceasefire.

"The occupation country is working day and night to undermine the agreement with its violations on the ground," a Hamas spokesman said.

Israel has said that under the next phase of a 20-point plan to end the war, developed by the administration of US President Donald Trump, Hamas must disarm and step down from power, which it has so far refused to do. Reuters writes that instead of fulfilling the conditions, Hamas has launched repression and public executions in areas liberated by Israeli forces.
