More than half of Ukrenergo's energy facilities have installed engineering protection to protect themselves from drone attacks. The operator reported this in a comment to hromadske.
"Today, more than half of Ukrenergo's facilities have second-level anti-drone protection. Construction work is ongoing," Ukrenergo says.
It is noted that when protection is being built at a substation, the equipment must be turned off. This means that people who receive electricity from this station will be left without electricity for a certain period of time. That is why the process of building shelters has been divided into two stages.
The first stage covers key substations for transmitting electricity from west to east and from south to north. They are already protected. The protection of the second stage will be completed in the first half of 2026.
Ukrenergo also said that they have enough equipment to replace damaged elements of the power system.
"Taking into account the experience of previous autumn-winter periods, the transmission system operator has created reserves of high-voltage equipment that exceed the established standards by two to three times. Thanks to its own resources and assistance from international partners, the accumulation of reserves of equipment and materials continues," the company noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 13, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that two or three more massive attacks and Ukraine may need to import electricity.
We also wrote that on October 10, during a massive air attack by the occupation army on the Ukrainian energy sector, DTEK power plants were damaged.
Recall, according to the American publication The Wall Street Journal, Ukraine has prepared several battery parks that will give energy companies time to regulate the power system in the event of russian attacks.
