Ukraine's public debt to exceed 110% of GDP in 2026 - IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects Ukraine's public debt to exceed 110% of GDP next year.

This is stated in the IMF materials, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is reported that in a large number of the world's largest economies, public debt is approaching or exceeding 100% of GDP.

Over the next 5 years, the number of such countries will decrease, but at the same time their share in global GDP will grow.

The IMF reports that this year Ukraine's public debt will amount to 108.6% of GDP, and in 2026 it will reach 110.4% of GDP.

As noted, 2026 should be the peak year, after which Ukraine's public debt will begin to decline.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 3, the Cabinet of Ministers, together with the International Monetary Fund, began consultations on the state budget.

On June 30, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund completed the eighth review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program with Ukraine.
