The European Union will prepare a defense map that will help determine the development of capabilities in key areas, in particular, the fight against drones.
The head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas stated this at a press conference with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
According to Kallas, this week she and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will present the EU defense roadmap.
"It will define goals and stages for the development of capabilities in such key areas as counter-drone systems. It is clear that we need to strengthen our defense against russia," Kallas said.
She emphasized that strengthening European defense is necessary not to provoke war, but on the contrary, to prevent a possible clash.
Kallas noted that russia "is playing war" every time a russian plane or drone flies into EU airspace. There is a risk of escalation, unintentional or not.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 8, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that russia is waging a hybrid war against the EU.
Recall, at the end of September, the European Commission admitted that the European Union is not capable of detecting and combating UAVs, and the creation of such a system will take at least a year.
