On Saturday, October 11, Ukraine introduced new anti-russian sanctions. The restrictions include individuals and companies involved in supporting the russian military machine and circumventing sanctions.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated this in a post on his official page on Telegram.
"Today we have synchronized sanctions with Japan - I have signed a corresponding decree. The list of sanctions includes executives and companies that provide profits to the Russian military machine, supply weapons, critical components, and equipment," the statement reads.
Meanwhile, the President's website states that 8 individuals and 14 legal entities have been sanctioned. Among them:
- Pavel Marinichev, CEO of Alrosa, whose company provides the russian budget with profits from diamond mining;
- Sergey Lukin, Director of the Tula Cartridge Plant
- Rim Yong Hyok, representative of the North Korean company KOMID, who is involved in supplying weapons to russia.
In addition, sanctions were imposed on russian defense companies, including Stout and the Center for Innovative Technologies and Engineering, which supply electronic components, equipment and communication systems to the russian army.
A private military company, Convoy, established in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and financed by russian oligarch Arkady Rotenberg and the sanctioned VTB bank, was also sanctioned.
It is known that the Convoy PMC was established in the fall of 2022 in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Officially, Convoy is not subordinate to regular units of the russian armed forces and has its own area of responsibility and management structure. In 2023, there was information that the PMC was operating in the Kherson direction after initially defending russian logistics lines on the Melitopol-Dzhankoi highway.
Zelenskyy noted that sanctions against russia, which were imposed during the war, have become a global form of interaction that restores the real power of justice.
"And in Russia, the consequences of the world's sanctions are felt, and there will be even more pressure for this war," the President wrote.
He informed that since June this year, Ukraine has already adopted eight sanctions packages for our jurisdiction. In particular, sanctions with the United States, Canada, the UK, Japan and all EU sanctions packages have been synchronized.
"A total of 281 individuals and 633 legal entities, and these are significant persons. We are also working to ensure that there are new sanctions steps, in particular, we are counting on the 19th package of EU sanctions," the head of state added.
