The Verkhovna Rada has supported draft law No. 13627, which provides for a monthly payment of UAH 50,000 to military personnel who have returned from captivity and need long-term inpatient treatment. MP Oleksii Honcharenko has written this on his Telegram channel.
What the document provides for:
- servicemen who need long-term inpatient treatment (more than 30 days) after release from captivity will receive a monthly payment of UAH 50,000;
- payments will be made during the first three months of treatment;
- the draft law also regulates the procedure for issuing certificates of injury or illness sustained during captivity in order to avoid bureaucratic obstacles and different interpretations of the rules.
Now, such payments are provided only for those who have injuries (wounds, contusions, mutilations).
"But many of those released from captivity need treatment for serious illnesses they received or that worsened during their captivity. The Rada also supported the decision to immediately sign this draft law on payments for the military after captivity," Honcharenko wrote.
We will remind, in August the government agreed to pay UAH 15 million to the families of Ukrainian soldiers who died in captivity.
