Nearly 60% of Americans disapprove of US President Donald Trump's decision to deploy National Guard troops to "maintain order" in cities, as the head of the White House himself calls it.
This is evidenced by the data of a poll conducted by the Reuters agency and the international company Ipsos.
The US President should send troops only to counter external threats. About 58% of Americans, including 7 out of 10 Democrats and 5 out of 10 Republicans, believe this. Reuters writes that the survey results indicate growing concern about Trump's increasing use of the National Guard.
About 37% of respondents agreed with the statement that the President, regardless of his party affiliation, has the right to deploy troops to the states. 48% of those surveyed disagreed with this statement.
More than 80% of Americans also agreed with the statement that the armed forces should remain politically neutral.

The agency notes that the survey showed a decline in Trump's approval rating. Since the last similar survey, conducted in late September, the US President's rating has fallen by 1 percentage point to 40%.
The survey was conducted from Friday to Tuesday and just a few days after Trump stated at a meeting of American generals and admirals how the United States is "facing an enemy within" and his orders to send National Guard units to patrol cities, including Washington and Los Angeles.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 30, at a meeting with hundreds of American generals and admirals, Trump said that he would fire anyone if he did not like them.
Recall, on September 22, police stopped the car of French President Emmanuel Macron in New York. The French leader was not allowed through Trump's motorcade, for which the city streets were blocked.
