In September, the aggressor country of russia used 7,313 drones and 270 missiles against Ukraine, in which about 676,000 foreign-made components were found. This was announced by the Office of the President, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"In September of this year alone, the russian federation used 7,313 drones and 270 missiles of various types against Ukraine, in which about 676,000 foreign-made components were found," the report says.
The President's Office reported that the Presidential Advisor and Plenipotentiary for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasiuk and First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsia held a meeting with representatives of the embassies of the Group of Seven countries. The Ukrainian side informed about recent sanction decisions and the preparation of new sanctions against russia.
Vlasiuk and Kyslytsia spoke about key areas that could significantly weaken russia's ability to finance its war machine - the oil and banking sectors, as well as the shadow tanker fleet, including ship captains and crews.
Separately, Ukrainian representatives stressed the importance of also putting pressure on sanctions evasion schemes. Among other things, they discussed the fact that russia still uses components and materials supplied from other countries to produce weapons.
"Today, it is extremely important for our partners to realize that every microchip that ends up in russian weapons can cost a human life in Ukraine. Strengthening sanctions control is not only a matter of politics, but also of security and responsibility to the entire democratic world," Kyslytsia emphasized.
According to Vlasiuk, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to strengthen monitoring of compliance with sanctions in everything related to foreign-made components, and this topic, as well as preventing the supply of such components to the russian military-industrial complex, were among the main ones during the discussion.
"The russian military machine still relies on technologies and components coming from abroad - often through third countries. Our joint task with our G7 partners is to close these loopholes so that no chip or board can further strengthen the aggressor in waging war against Ukraine," Vlasiuk noted.
The Ukrainian side emphasized that it is necessary to unite the efforts of the G7 countries to effectively counter russian aggression, and proposed creating a monitoring team at the G7 level that would monitor compliance with sanctions.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of September 7, russian occupiers attacked the Cabinet of Ministers building with a 9M727 Iskander cruise missile containing foreign components.
In August, the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, reported that Ukraine was detecting Indian-made parts in russian strike drones.
