World Bank downgrades its forecast for Ukraine's GDP growth in 2026 from 5.2% to 2%

The World Bank has downgraded its forecast for Ukraine's GDP growth in 2026 from 5.2% to 2%.

This is stated in the World Bank report, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that previously the growth rates were overestimated due to ongoing russian aggression, low investment and business activity, destruction of infrastructure, record high gas imports, as well as a decrease in agricultural exports due to adverse weather conditions and the resumption of trade restrictions by the EU.

The World Bank expects Ukraine's GDP to grow by 2% in 2026 instead of 5.2% as previously expected.

It is noted that this year the World Bank expects Ukraine's GDP to grow by 2%.

In 2027, Ukraine's GDP may grow by 5%.

At the same time, it is reported that the Ukrainian economy is in the process of transformation, with the emergence of new sectors and increased productivity in existing sectors, which is likely to contribute to employment growth.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in September, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) downgraded its forecast for Ukraine's GDP growth in 2025 from 3.3% to 2.5%.
