The State Border Guard Service said that the decision to disband the company of strike unmanned aerial vehicles of the 10th mobile detachment of the State Border Guard Service was made due to the lack of effectiveness of the unit in performing its tasks.

Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, said this in a commentary to Interfax-Ukraine.

"To understand the situation. The unit that Kasyanov is talking about (the State Border Guard Service major, aerial reconnaissance specialist Yurii Kasyanov - ed.) was introduced into the staff of one of the border detachments in April 2024. Initially, the unit's staffing was more than 40 servicemen. Several times, organizational staffing changes were made, as a result of which the unit's staff was increased to 100 servicemen," the spokesman said in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, during the period of its existence as part of the State Border Guard Service, the unit used 560 units of unmanned systems to defeat enemy targets, the average cost of which is UAH 252,000.

"During 2025, 12 sorties were carried out, during which 299 UAVs were used," Demchenko said.

He added that the unit was provided with rental premises, weapons and protective equipment, 11 vehicles (there were three more cars from volunteers), more than 6 tons of pile fuel (in 2025 alone), portable and car radios, Starlink, laptops and tablets.

According to Demchenko, the results of the use have never confirmed the defeat of certain military and military-industrial facilities of the enemy.

"In the course of interaction with the military authorities, the data on the defeat of certain enemy targets was also not confirmed. Once again, I would like to note that the decision to disband the unit was caused by the assessment of the tasks performed by the servicemen of this unit. Only Kasyanov himself recognized the high performance of his unit, but no one else can confirm this, neither in the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine nor in other military command and control bodies," said the State Border Guard Service spokesman.

According to him, the personnel will reinforce other combat units of the agency, exclusively in their specialty. They will continue to serve in the units of reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicles.

Yurii Kasyanov, the founder of the public research and development bureau of unmanned aircraft "Matrix-UAV", who created the unit, called the State Border Guard Service information about the inefficiency of the unit a lie and emphasized that there are reports on the work done.

"The State Border Guard Service said that they were disbanding our unit because we were ineffective. That there are no confirmed hits on targets. This is a complete lie. There are reports on the work done. Manuscripts do not burn," he wrote.

On October 3, Kasyanov on Facebook announced the disbandment of the unit: "Good morning. Deineka liquidated our unit on the order of Yermak."

He said that since 2022, the unit had conducted "hundreds of successful operations, inflicted damage on the enemy worth more than half a billion dollars." He called the decision to liquidate the company a crime.

"I wrote an appeal to the president, but he does not hear me. I go to the president's office, to Maidan with my cardboard," he said on October 4.
