A power facility was also damaged as a result of the attacks, leaving more than a thousand households in Poltava and surrounding settlements without electricity.

"The situation is similar in Sumy - there was damage to residential buildings and a power outage in part of the city," Kuleba added.

It is noted that the response teams are working on the ground. Specialists are inspecting the area, restoring power supply and helping people.

According to him, the railway traffic has been stabilized, and critical infrastructure is gradually returning to work.

"The enemy's goal is obvious - Russia is trying to weaponize cold and darkness. The enemy wants to disrupt the heating season and paralyze the work of Ukrzaliznytsia, which remains a critical artery of the country," he summarized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Tuesday, October 7, russian occupants attacked the Poltava Region with the help of UAVs. Civilian infrastructure facilities came under attack.
