Law enforcement officials are investigating the executions of 322 Ukrainian prisoners of war by russians, 263 of whom were executed on the battlefield and 59 more in the Olenivka penal colony. The Prosecutor General's Office has reported this in response to a request from Ukrinform.
"As of today, 80 criminal proceedings have been initiated over the execution of 322 Ukrainian servicemen, including in Olenivka," the PGO said in a statement.
The Office also said that as a result of the investigation, law enforcement officers served suspicions on 9 russian servicemen.
The indictments against 6 russian servicemen were sent to court. In these cases, the courts announced two verdicts, and the cases against two more defendants are pending in court.
The response of the Prosecutor General's Office also notes that the aggressor country russia systematically violates both the norms of international humanitarian law and the customs of war, as well as the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said, that the executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war is a systemic policy of the aggressor state of russia, which is encouraged by the country's leadership.
