In September 2025, Kyiv allocated UAH 235 million for drones-interceptors of Shaheds to strengthen air defense, and today the Capital's Defense Council will discuss how this issue is being implemented. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has announced this on his Telegram channel.

"In September, the city allocated UAH 235 million to strengthen Kyiv's air defense system. In particular, for the purchase of drones to intercept enemy Shaheds. Today, at the Defense Council, we will also discuss how this issue is being implemented and what other assistance is needed from the Kyiv community," Vitali Klitschko wrote.

As previously reported, since the beginning of the year, Kyiv has transferred more than 40,000 drones of various types, 200 electronic warfare systems, ground robotic systems and vehicles to the frontline. In addition, despite the central government's withdrawal of UAH 8 billion from the capital's budget, the city found additional funds for the Armed Forces and increased funding for the Kyiv Defender program in 2025 to UAH 11 billion.

This weekend, russian troops carried out massive shelling of Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Shostka and other Ukrainian cities. Only during the night of October 4-5, russia used almost 500 Shaheds and more than 50 missiles.
