Former Prime Minister Andrej Babis' ANO party, known for its pro-russian stance, has won the Czech parliamentary elections. With 100% of the votes counted, it has won over 34% and is in line to form a new government, České Noviny reports.
Babis' party plans to form a single-party cabinet, enlisting the support of two political forces that entered parliament for the first time - the Freedom and Direct Democracy movement and the Motorists for Themselves.
The ruling SPOLU coalition (which includes ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP09), together with the Starosta (STAN) party and former allies - the Pirates - have lost their majority in the 200-seat parliament and will not be able to form a government.
Other political forces did not overcome the passage barrier and did not enter the Chamber of Deputies.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal reported in late July that the Czech Republic had informed about the preparation of new military assistance packages. This will be a significant reinforcement in the field of air defense, electronic warfare, and long-range capabilities.
