Five conscripts have disappeared in northern Norway during military exercises near the border with russia.

According to NRK broadcaster, the exercise took place in the municipality of Nessebee (Finnmark County) and ended on October 2 at 7 am. Ten soldiers did not arrive at the designated place at the appointed time.

Later in the evening, five of them were found: three made it to the assembly point on their own, and two were found by a rescue helicopter. All of them are alive and well.

The remaining five remain missing. The police are searching in a remote area with swamps and forests where there is no mobile communication. Drones and search dogs have been deployed for the operation.

According to police officials, there are two possibilities: the soldiers could have misunderstood the time of the end of the exercise or an emergency situation occurred.

The armed forces explained that the soldiers were practicing an "escape" scenario - their task was to remain invisible. Some of them have already served 15 months, others - 12 months.

On the evening of September 30, in the city of Brenneisund, an unknown drone caused a temporary shutdown of the local airport.

On the evening of September 29, an unmanned aerial vehicle was spotted on Equinor's Sleipner platform in the North Sea.
