State budget spending on defense needs to be increased by UAH 300 billion - MP Pidlasa

State budget spending on defense for 2025 needs to be increased by UAH 300 billion, is convinced by the head of the parliamentary budget committee Roksolana Pidlasa (the Servant of the People faction).

Pidlasa announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"There is a need to increase state budget spending on defense by about UAH 300 billion, the Ministry of Finance is preparing a bill and will register it in early October," she said.

According to her, these changes will become possible when the European Commission finally agrees to the possibility of using EUR 6 billion of ERA Loans for operational military needs, and the forecast is very optimistic in this regard.

The MP noted that the bill must be voted on as a whole by November 1.

"There cannot and will not be any delays in payments to the military, because to cover temporary liquidity gaps, the government is raising money from the placement of government bonds," she stressed.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 31, the Verkhovna Rada already increased defense expenditures in the 2025 state budget by UAH 412 billion.

The draft state budget for 2026 provides for an increase in spending on security and defense to UAH 2.8 trillion, or 27.2% of GDP, which is UAH 168.6 billion more than in 2025.
