American entrepreneur, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk became the first person in history to reach the half-trillion-dollar mark. This is evidenced by the Forbes billionaire ranking as of October 1.
Throughout the day, the value of his fortune fluctuated slightly, and the amount temporarily fell below the record mark. However, Musk still holds the undisputed lead in the list of the world's richest people.

Back in December of last year, he became the first person to exceed USD 400 billion in net worth. Now Musk is about USD 150 billion ahead of his closest competitor, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.
Forbes notes that the businessman has thus gone halfway to the potential status of the world's first trillionaire.
However, the balance of power may change: just a few weeks ago, Ellison briefly overtook Musk to top the ranking.
In September, Elon Musk purchased more than 2 million Tesla shares through his Elon Musk Revocable Trust.
Tesla has offered Elon Musk a USD 1 trillion reward.
