Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the aggressor country russia, the demining units of the Ukrainian security forces have neutralized more than one million explosive devices.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this today, September 29.

He said that according to the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Defense and Environmental Safety, almost 6,500 square kilometers of territory have been surveyed.

"9,691 kilometers of roads, 10,164 kilometers of power lines and 3,748 kilometers of railways have been checked," Shmyhal wrote.

He added that 37,000 square kilometers in the de-occupied territories were recognized as available for use after a non-technical survey.

The Minister noted that it is possible to increase the pace of demining carried out by mine action operators. In 2024, they demined 38 square kilometers of territory, and since the beginning of 2025 - almost 150 square kilometers.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 24, the Cabinet of Ministers said that online certification of mine action operators has become available on the portal of public services "Diia".

In June of this year, the Ministry of Defense announced that Ukraine had increased the pace of humanitarian demining by 50%.
