Visa has announced the launch of a pilot project of pre-financing in stablecoins through Visa Direct, its global payments platform that connects 11 billion cards, bank accounts, and wallets.

It was reported to the Ukrainian News agency by Visa.

This opens up a new way for businesses to move funds globally.

"For many years, cross-border fund transfers have remained dependent on slow and expensive systems that required a preliminary freeze of capital. With this pilot project, Visa Direct is testing stablecoins as a new source of funding. The goal is to reduce barriers, provide faster access to liquidity, and give financial institutions more flexibility in managing global disbursements," the statement said.

The introduction of stablecoins provides the following opportunities:

- Modernized treasury operations: institutions can move funds in minutes instead of days, making liquidity management more dynamic and responsive.

How the pilot launch works:

- Pre-funding in stablecoins: Businesses send Visa stablecoins instead of traditional currency to cover payments. Visa considers these stablecoins as "money in the account."

- For whom: Banks, money transfer services and financial institutions that need faster and more flexible tools to manage liquidity in cross-border transactions.

- Availability: Visa is working with partners that meet the criteria for the pilot launch and plans to expand it in 2026.

As the Ukrainian News agency previously reported, earlier Visa announced that it is creating AI agents for daily online purchases of goods and services, the company said in a statement.
