Polish President Nawrocki's office announces anti-Banderism bill

Polish President Karol Nawrocki plans to submit a bill to the Sejm next week to ban the ideology of the so-called "Banderism".

According to the authors of the Polish PAP agency, the head of the Polish President's Office, Zbigniew Bogucki, announced this.

Bogucki announced that two presidential legislative proposals will be submitted to the Marshal of the Sejm on Monday.

One concerns "extending the period after which foreigners, including citizens of Ukraine, will be able to apply for Polish citizenship, which, as he noted, is something absolutely exceptional".

The head of Nawrocki's Office recalled that he had previously called for increasing the period after which Ukrainians can apply for Polish citizenship from three to ten years of permanent residence.

The second project will concern "amending the Criminal Code and the law on the Institute of National Remembrance in order to prosecute anyone who tries or wants to spread Banderism on the territory of the Republic of Poland, or wants to spread the "Volyn lie". As Bogucki emphasized, "the President of the Republic of Poland will not allow himself to be blackmailed and will not allow Poles to be blackmailed."
