Polish President Karol Nawrocki signed a bill to extend special assistance to Ukrainian citizens. At the same time, he limits benefits for unemployed Ukrainians.
Polish Radio reported this today, September 26.
Head of the Presidential Office Zbigniew Bogucki said that this is the last bill signed by Nawrocki, according to this formula of assistance that was provided to Ukrainians earlier.
He added that the bill contains decisions that mean the end of tourism from Ukraine at the expense of Polish taxpayers.
"The bill contains information about specific benefits that will not be available to Ukrainian citizens who do not work in Poland," Bogucki said.
These include drug treatment programs, rehabilitation, health programs, dental services, prescription drug coverage, and "many, many" other benefits.
Bogucki added that Nawrocki will withdraw his bill submitted to parliament after the August veto.
Without the law on special assistance, Ukrainians in Poland would have lost their right to work, access to healthcare, and other benefits as of October 1. The signing of the law means that Ukrainians will be able to continue working and receive a monthly child benefit of UAH 9,000 if at least one parent is legally employed.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 25, Polish President Nawrocki vetoed the law on assistance to children of Ukrainians (800+).
