Syrskyi tells how AFU managed to stop the advance of russians near Dobropillia and take them "into bag"

The actions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine allowed them to take into the "bag" the units of the russian occupation army, which had previously made a breakthrough in the Dobropillia area of the Donetsk Region. They are now being destroyed by the Ukrainian military.

According to RBC-Ukraine, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said this during a conversation with journalists.

According to him, the occupiers were able to make a breakthrough thanks to the use of new tactics that the russian army will use from the summer of this year. It consists in creating a large number of groups of 4-6 soldiers. They simultaneously try to bypass the strongholds of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and get as far into the rear as possible.

This happened in the Dobropillia area. In some places, such groups of russians managed to advance 12-20 kilometers into the rear of the Ukrainian military.

The command anticipated such a development of events, so additional forces were transferred to this section of the front. The plan was to cut off the occupying group. The Kazennyi Torets River became the barrier line.

On this section of the front, the Ukrainian military launched simultaneous assault operations from the north and south towards each other. Thus, the russian group that broke through in the Dobropillia area was managed to be "sacked".

"The enemy is trapped. Now it is actually being destroyed," Syrskyi said.

He added that since the beginning of the operation, the Ukrainian military has managed to liberate an area of 168 square kilometers, and clear 182 square kilometers.

Syrskyi explained that the liberated areas are the areas where the occupying forces were able to gain a foothold. In the second case, we are talking about areas where the enemy was able to advance, but did not have time to gain a foothold.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 19, it became known that the Ukrainian military liberated seven settlements in the Dobropillia area. Nine more settlements were also cleared of occupier sabotage groups.
