There would be war. Russia responds to Trump's statement about shooting down russian planes

If a member country of the North Atlantic Alliance shot down a russian plane that violated its airspace, there would be war. The ambassador of the aggressor country russia to France, Alexei Meshkov, stated this on RTL on Thursday, September 25.

Meshkov said that NATO planes allegedly often violate russian airspace. According to him, they are not even intercepted in such cases. The journalist asked what would happen if NATO shot down a russian plane, as US President Donald Trump advised.

"It would be war," Meshkov said.

The russian ambassador also denied that the aggressor country had anything to do with drones detected over the territory of European countries: "Russia does not do that, play with anyone," Meshkov said.

On September 23, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that NATO would not shoot down russian planes unless they were attacking NATO members.

On September 22, Donald Tusk said that Poland would without hesitation shoot down air targets that violate its airspace and pose a threat, but would take a more cautious approach to situations that are "less unambiguous."
