President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to US President Donald Trump's statement about the possibility of Ukraine returning all occupied territories, calling it unexpected, but very positive.
He said this in an interview with Fox News.
When asked if he was surprised by Trump's rhetoric, Zelenskyy replied: "A little. Yes. I mean, I am confident in my people, in my army and in the strength of the support of the United States, but the US President was more positive about this and he showed that he wants to support Ukraine until the very end. So we understand now that we are ready to end this war as quickly as possible. He wants, I want, our people want, but he understood that putin does not want, and he sees that putin will not win, but he tells everyone that he will win."
Zelenskyy stressed that he took the American leader's words as an important signal: "And I see - yes, it was a bit of a surprise for me, you're right - I saw a very positive signal that Trump and America will be with us until the end of the war. We'll see, but God bless it so that it happens."
Recall that the day before, Donald Trump unexpectedly stated that Ukraine would be able to return all its territories and "maybe even go further." Previously, he had repeatedly stated that Kyiv would have to cede part of the land.
