President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the head of the White House Donald Trump agreed to provide Ukraine with security guarantees after the end of the war.
He reported this during a conversation with journalists in New York.
According to Zelenskyy, his meeting with Trump left a positive impression. The President of Ukraine emphasized that the American leader was attentive to the topics raised by the Ukrainian side and recognized their importance for achieving peace.
"He was positive about the topics that we shared, and the impact of these topics on the path to peace, and the real deep meaning of all these cases that we shared," Zelenskyy said.
He also explained that Trump expressed his readiness to provide security guarantees to Ukraine after the end of the war, but there are no details yet.
"We understand that President Trump is ready to provide Ukraine with security guarantees after the end of this war," the head of state emphasized.
Regarding the format of such guarantees, Zelenskyy clarified that the agreements have not yet been written down, but work on them will begin at the end of September.
"We will work on some types of this, sometimes on drones, sometimes on some types of weapons that we need for security guarantees... It is good that our teams will work at the end of this month," he added.
Recall that on August 18, Trump received Zelenskyy and European leaders in Washington. Then, for the first time, they officially talked about post-war guarantees for Ukraine, which should cover security on land, at sea and in the sky.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on August 19, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine should abandon hopes for the return of Crimea occupied by russia and accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.
