Ukraine plans to create single register of apiaries

Ukraine is preparing a large-scale reform of beekeeping, where special attention will be paid to digitalization, in particular, the creation of a single register of apiaries and veterinary and sanitary passports, which will allow better control of product quality and the movement of bee colonies.

This is stated in a report by the AgroPortal.ua publication, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The report states that in May, the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy registered draft law 5274-d "On the Development of the Beekeeping Industry, Protection, Protection and Preservation of Bees" and is awaiting consideration in parliament in the first reading.

Taras Vysotskyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, emphasized that when updating the legislative framework, it is important to adhere to European principles, therefore, work is ongoing with market participants today to maximally take into account the necessary amendments to the law before the second reading in order to switch to new standards without risk to business.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club association adds that without official registration and a veterinary and sanitary passport, a beekeeper cannot legally export his products to the EU, and this is a direct barrier to access to the world's largest honey market.

It is noted that in the EU itself, the interaction between beekeepers and farmers is based on the principles of cooperation, communication and mutual responsibility.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in mid-February, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy announced the launch of a new electronic service for early notification of the use of plant protection products as part of the launch of the first stage of "E-Beekeeping".
