Kim Jong Un says he is ready for dialogue with US, but sets condition

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has made it clear that the DPRK is ready to resume dialogue with the United States if Washington reconsiders its position on the nuclear program.

According to Reuters, in a speech at the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Jong Un stressed that Pyongyang has no reason to avoid talks with the US, but complete denuclearization is not being considered even in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

"If the United States drops the absurd obsession with denuclearising us and accepts reality, and wants genuine peaceful coexistence, there is no reason for us not to sit down with the United States," he said.

Kim Jong Un also recalled meetings with former US President Donald Trump, which, according to him, left warm memories. The leaders of the two countries held talks three times during Trump's first term.

According to Kim, the creation of nuclear weapons has become a matter of survival for North Korea against the backdrop of "grave threats" from the United States and South Korea. He emphasized that international sanctions have not broken the country, but on the contrary have made it stronger.

At the same time, Kim criticized the latest initiatives by Washington and Seoul to resume talks, calling them "disingenuous" and aimed at destroying the North and its regime.

We will remind, despite international pressure, the DPRK continues to expand its nuclear arsenal and test ballistic missiles, violating UN Security Council resolutions.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 4, after an official meeting in Beijing between Kim Jong Un and russian dictator vladimir putin, the North Korean leader's entourage removed all the items he had come into contact with.
