On the night of September 20 (from 08:00 pm on September 19), the russian occupation army launched a combined strike on the territory of Ukraine using strike drones, air- and ground-based missiles. The Air Defense Forces neutralized 583 enemy targets, but missile and strike UAV hits were recorded at 10 locations.
This was announved by the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that in total, during the enemy strike, the Air Force radio-technical troops detected and escorted 619 air attack vehicles:
- 579 Shahed attack UAVs and simulator UAVs of various types from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Oryol, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (all - RF);
- 8 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Yeysk (RF) and Crimea;
- 32 Kh-101 cruise missiles from the airspace of the Saratov Oblast (RF).
During the attack, the enemy used traditional tactics - a simultaneous strike on designated objects with a large number of missiles and UAVs of various types.
The Air Force emphasized that tactical aviation, in particular F-16 fighters, effectively dealt with the enemy's cruise missiles.
According to preliminary data, as of 09:00 am, air defense systems shot down/suppressed 583 air targets:
- 552 Shahed drones and simulator drones of various types;
- 2 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 29 Kh-101 cruise missiles.
Hits of ballistic, cruise missiles and 23 strike UAVs were recorded at 10 locations, and downed UAVs (fragments) fell at 10 locations.
As of 10:00 am, several enemy UAVs were still in Ukrainian airspace.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of September 19, the russians launched 86 drones over Ukraine, and the air defense forces managed to neutralize 71 of them.
