US President Donald Trump said he had a "very productive" phone call with Chinese leader Xi Jinping about ending the war in Ukraine, a personal meeting, and the sale of TikTok. His words were quoted by CNN on Friday, September 19.
"I just completed a very productive call with President Xi of China. We made progress on many very important issues including Trade, Fentanyl, the need to bring the War between Russia and Ukraine to an end, and the approval of the TikTok Deal," Trump said.
According to him, the call was "very good" and the parties look forward to meeting. The US president said he would meet with Xi Jinping at the upcoming APEC summit, which will be held in South Korea in late October. Trump is going to visit China next year, and Xi Jinping will come to the United States "at an appropriate time."
As a reminder, the APEC summits are attended by countries from the Pacific region, including the United States, China, russia, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore and others that are part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the US has proposed that the G7 confiscate frozen russian assets and impose tariffs on China and India.
