Poland not ruling out possibility of first meeting of Zelenskyy and Nawrocki at UN General Assembly

The head of the International Policy Bureau of the Office of the President of Poland, Marcin Przydacz, said that a meeting between Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York, where the UN General Assembly will be held, is not ruled out.

This is reported by RMF24.

Thus, on September 21-24, Nawrocki, together with First Lady Marta Nawrocka, will visit the United States, where they will take part in the general debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Przydacz said that a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings in various formats will take place within the framework of the UN General Assembly session. In particular, he expressed confidence in a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

When asked whether Nawrocki would also meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he replied that the hall where the UN meets is actually small and everyone is in it, so contacts between politicians are obvious.

"So, of course, at least a short exchange of thoughts and views with the Ukrainian president can take place there," he said.

Earlier, diplomatic sources told PAP that in addition to the president, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski will also participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, which will begin on Sunday. This will be the first time that the head of Polish diplomacy will accompany President Nawrocki on his foreign visit.

We will remind, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also saw a signal from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding a possible meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump and welcomes him. The Ukrainian side "would be glad" to meet.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a delegation led by the Polish Defense Minister arrived in Kyiv on September 18. Ukraine and Poland agreed on joint exercises on the use and counteraction to drones.
