On the night of September 17, russia tried to disable critical railway infrastructure with drone strikes. This was reported by Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction - Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba in Telegram.
"This night, with a massive drone strike, the enemy tried to disable substations that power the railway network. Such strikes have a clear goal - to complicate the transportation of passengers and cargo, disrupt the stable operation of transport and create additional pressure on people and the economy," he said.
It is also noted that at the time of the attack, there were more than 20 passenger trains on the routes and Ukrzaliznytsia dispatchers stopped them at a safe distance.
"The most important thing is that there are no injuries among passengers and railway workers. As of 08:00 am, 26 trains are running with a delay of more than an hour due to this attack. To ensure traffic, Ukrzaliznytsia has already deployed more than 20 reserve diesel locomotives. On power-cut sections where there is no power to signaling and communication devices, trains are still running in a reserve format to reduce delays. For international flights with Poland, transfers to Chełm and Przemyśl will be organized so that passengers can reach their destinations safely," the Vice Prime Minister emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the russian federation struck the railway infrastructure at night, a number of trains in the Dnipro direction are delayed due to power outages, and delays on some routes already exceed three hours.
Ukrzaliznytsia is changing the routes of domestic and international railway flights due to the russian federation's night attack.
