Kinef Refinery near St. Petersburg temporarily loses 25% of capacity after drone attack

The Kirishinefteorgsintez oil refinery (Kinef) has lost a quarter of its processing capacity as a result of a Ukrainian drone attack. It is one of the five largest refineries in the aggressor country, russia.

Reuters reported this, citing its own sources.

The agency's interlocutors said on condition of anonymity that the drones damaged the AT-6 atmospheric distillation unit. Its main function is to separate oil into gasoline, diesel, kerosene and fuel oil.

The unit accounted for 40% of all oil refining. According to Reuters sources, repairing the damage will take about a month.

The russians have increased the capacity of other units to compensate for the losses. Thus, the reduction in oil refining at the entire refinery will be 25%.

The Kirishinefteorgsintez enterprise is located in the city of Kirishi, 75 kilometers from St. Petersburg. Its capacity is 20 million tons of oil per year. It is one of the five largest russian refineries.

The strike on Kirishinefteorgsintez was carried out on the night of September 14 using drones.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 5 it became known that as a result of the drone attack, the Ryazan Refinery temporarily lost part of its processing capacity.
