The American-Ukrainian Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine is considering titanium and zirconium deposits in the Kirovohrad Region as starter projects. This was announced by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksii Sobolev on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, Sobolev reported that together with a delegation from the International Development Finance Corporation (USA), they visited the Kirovohrad Region to assess investment opportunities for mining and processing in the region. According to him, this is the first visit with American partners to facilities that could become starter projects for the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine.
"We inspected the Byrzulivskyi GOK and the Likarivske deposit - promising sites that we are considering for the Fund's project portfolio. Titanium and zirconium ores are mined here primarily. The sites also contain deposits of hafnium - one of the rare earth metals used in nuclear energy, the aerospace industry, and more," he said.
Sobolev noted that Ukraine is one of the key suppliers of titanium in the world, which is used in the defense, aerospace, and high-tech industries and is in great demand both in the United States and in European and Latin American countries.
"Such visits are important to assess the potential on the ground, to take into account all aspects of future investments - for economic development, a responsible attitude to the environment, and the future development of communities," he noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, in early September, the Cabinet of Ministers delegated three representatives to the board of directors of the American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund, including Sobolev.
On May 8, the Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the United States on the establishment of the American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund (Minerals Agreement), concluded on April 30, 2025.
