Drunk driver detained in Kyiv, who hit servicewoman at pedestrian crossing and fled

In Kyiv, police detained a 44-year-old Volkswagen driver who hit a 23-year-old servicewoman at a pedestrian crossing and left the scene of the accident.

It was reported by the Kyiv police.

The accident occurred on the afternoon of September 13 at the intersection of Kharkivske Highway and Bratslavska Street. According to police, the driver drove through a prohibited traffic light and hit a pedestrian. The victim received numerous injuries and was hospitalized.

It turned out that the victim was a servicewoman.

The woman was later found by law enforcement officers. She tried to assure that her husband was driving, but this version was not confirmed. The breathalyzer test showed 3.11 ppm of alcohol in the blood, with a permissible limit of 0.2.

A case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic rules while intoxicated).

Recall that on September 7, an Audi and a Nissan collided in the Darnytskyi Dis£trict of Kyiv, resulting in the death of the driver and passenger of the first car. The cause of the accident was a violation of traffic rules.
