General Staff not ruling out restricting mobile Internet during russian drone alerts — media

The General Staff of Ukraine is considering the possibility of temporarily turning off mobile communications or slowing down mobile Internet during air alerts.

Suspilne reported this with reference to a source in the General Staff.

They claim that currently there are measures that make it difficult for russia to use the Ukrainian mobile network for drone navigation, but the situation may change in the future.

"Such measures (turning off the mobile network — ed.) make sense. How much it is needed depends on the specific situation and conditions. Therefore, it may be advisable in some cases to use a reduction in the speed of mobile Internet to restrict the operation of UAVs in FPV mode," the source explained.

At the same time, the effectiveness of the restrictions depends on the type of drone. Drones without cameras do not need high-speed Internet for data transmission, while drones with cameras work effectively only with a fast connection, so it makes sense to restrict mobile Internet for them.

Recall that the Harmoniia folk amateur brass band from the village of Kivshovata in the Kyiv Region put the sounds of air defenses working on the Iranian Shahed strike drone into music. The band posted a video of the shocking realistic overture on the social network, which impressed users, who shared the entire spectrum of emotions in the comments: from obscene likes to admiration, but did not leave anyone indifferent. The clip on TikTok collected over 1,100,000 views in the first day.
