US President Donald Trump tells reporters on Sunday that he will hold conversation with russian leader vladimir putin in coming days.
He told this to reporters at Andrews Air Force Base, CNN reports.
"Very soon. Over the next couple of days. Look, we're going to get it done. The Russia-Ukraine situation. We're going to get it done," Trump said.
His words came after russia carried out the largest air attack since the beginning of the war: more than 800 drones were launched over the territory of Ukraine. For the first time, a government building in Kyiv was also hit.
"I am not thrilled with what's happening there. I believe we're going to get it settled. But I am not happy with them. I'm not happy with anything having to do with that war," the American president added.
Trump also hinted that a number of European leaders are expected in Washington at the beginning of the week to discuss the situation.
The statements came against the backdrop of the White House administration's readiness to move to the second stage of sanctions against russia.
As a reminder, leaders of some European countries will visit the United States on Monday or Tuesday to discuss ways to resolve the war of the aggressor country russia against Ukraine.
On August 22, Politico reported, citing its own sources, that US President Trump believes that Ukraine will have to accept russia's conditions to end the war.
