US President Donald Trump said he is ready to host russian leader vladimir putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 summit in 2026, which is planned to be held in Miami. According to him, participation in the meeting will depend on the desire of these countries, and the United States is open to discussing their presence.
Trump said this during a conversation with reporters at the White House, answering journalists' questions about the possibility of putin's arrival.
The American leader admitted that he had not thought about it before, but called the topic "interesting".
"It's an interesting question - I would really like them to do it if they wanted to. I treat them well. If they want to - they can participate as observers. I'm not sure that they would be interested in being in that role, but if they want to - we are ready to discuss it," Trump said.
At the same time, he confirmed that the G20 forum will be held in 2026 at his Trump National Doral golf club in Miami.
According to CNN, russia and China are members of the G20, but after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, putin missed the summits twice: in 2023 in New Delhi and in 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, sending Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov instead. Instead, Xi Jinping personally attended the meeting in Brazil last year.
