Chief of General Staff of russia Gerasimov announces plans to continue war against Ukraine

The terrorist country russia is not going to stop the war against Ukraine. This statement was made by the Chief of the General Staff of the russian federation Valery Gerasimov.

"The implementation of the tasks of the special military operation will be continued by conducting offensive actions. Today we will clarify the tasks of the groups of troops by direction for the autumn period," he said.

The video of Gerasimov's speech was published by the russian Ministry of Defense, which emphasized that he "summarized the results of the spring-summer campaign of 2025 and clarified the tasks for the future."

"The strategic initiative (…) is fully in the hands of the Russian Armed Forces," the head of the russian General Staff said.

According to him, the russian army now controls 99.7% of the territory of Luhansk, 79% of the territory of Donetsk, 74% of Zaporizhzhia and 76% of Kherson Regions.

Gerasimov also said that the massive strikes on Ukraine on August 28 and 30, which destroyed the entrance of a residential building in Kyiv and killed 25 people (including four children), and damaged civilian infrastructure in other regions, were allegedly carried out on "enterprises related to the military-industrial complex."

In general, the russian army controls about 20% of the territory of Ukraine, but almost all of these conquests fell on the first weeks of the invasion. According to Deep State, over the past 1,010 days of the war, russia has seized 5,842 km of Ukrainian territory, or 0.97% of the country's area.

Russia's offensive is accompanied by catastrophic losses. According to estimates by the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), since the beginning of the invasion, the russian army has lost about 1 million people, including 250,000 killed and 400,000 disabled.

British intelligence reports similar figures. According to a joint study by Meduza and Mediazona, based on the Register of Inheritance Cases, by the end of August 2025, 220,000 russian soldiers had been killed in Ukraine.

The Economist analysts estimated that in the summer of 2025, the russian army was losing one soldier for every 0.038 km. At this rate, according to the publication, access to the administrative borders of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions is possible no earlier than February 2029, and the complete capture of Ukraine would require another 89 years of war.
