Washington will provide Kyiv with capabilities for "deeper" strikes on russia - US Ambassador to NATO

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that the Administration of US President Donald Trump is increasing military support for Ukraine, in particular by providing opportunities for "deeper strikes" on russian territory.

Whitaker said this in an interview with the American broadcaster Fox News.

According to Whitaker, a new batch of weapons worth almost a billion dollars is already heading to Ukraine. In addition, Washington will supply Kyiv with weapons worth about a billion dollars more every month at the expense of NATO allies.

"President Trump is primarily concerned that Ukraine can continue to defend itself. Strengthening the strike potential will also help in offensive operations," said General Whitaker.

The diplomat noted that Trump, in parallel with military assistance, is conducting behind-the-scenes negotiations with the kremlin and continues to exert economic pressure on russia. In his opinion, such a strategy is significantly different from the actions of the previous Biden administration.

"President Trump knows all the cards he has still left to play. But he also understands that he needs to keep Vladimir Putin at the table, as well as Zelenskyy at the table. Is it going to happen overnight? Most likely not. But I think we're on the right path and both sides are still talking, and that is a good thing," the American official said.

According to Whitaker, the United States is providing Ukraine with "deeper strike capabilities" that were not provided under Biden.

" This is not Donald Trump's war, but he certainly wants the killing to end; he wants these strikes on the cities in Ukraine to end," the ambassador stressed.
