The US Department of State has approved the possible sale of air-to-surface missiles and related equipment to Ukraine for about USD 825 million, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said.
Ukraine has requested up to 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles and the same number of GPS/INS EGI anti-spoofing (SAASM) navigation systems, Y-Code or M-Code.
The package also includes missile containers, mounting pylons, components and equipment, spare parts, consumables, accessories, repair services, mission planning software, and classified systems support.
The statement said the sale "supports US foreign policy and national interests by strengthening the security of a partner country that is a factor in political stability and economic development in Europe."
Financing will be provided by Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and the US Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program. At the same time, the conclusion of the agreement will not require the deployment of additional American specialists to Ukraine.
The DSCA emphasized that the supply will not affect the US defense readiness. The final contract amount may be less, depending on needs and budgetary decisions.
Recall that the US offered the aggressor country of russia to purchase icebreakers from it, and also discussed several energy deals to encourage an end to the war against Ukraine.
