On the night of August 28, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck a number of important facilities of the russian aggressor, in particular, they attacked the Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai and the Kuibyshev oil refinery in the Samara Oblast. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to the report, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine attacked the Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai of the russian federation, a large-scale fire was recorded on the territory of the facility.
The General Staff notes that this oil refinery, the main products of which are gasoline and diesel fuel, is involved in supplying the army of the invaders, the annual volume of processing is 6.25 million tons of oil per year.
Also, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a fire attack on the Kuibyshev oil refinery in the Samara Oblast of the russian federation, explosions and a fire were recorded on the territory of the plant.
The Kuibyshev oil refinery supplies gasoline and diesel to a significant part of southern russia, the enterprise produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oils, solvents, in total - over 30 types of petroleum products, with a processing capacity of 7 million tons of oil per year.
In addition, the means of the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, hit ammunition depots and a number of logistical facilities of the russian aggressor, which are involved in providing the armed forces of the russian federation. The facilities are located both directly in the russian federation and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to the General Staff, since the beginning of 2025, as of mid-August, deep strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces have caused losses to the aggressor country of russia of USD 74.1 billion, or 4.11% of GDP. Among the affected facilities: 42% - refineries, 37% - storage facilities, 10% - oil pumping stations, 7% - terminals/ports.
