This week, the US and Ukrainian delegations will meet in the US. Washington will be represented by US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Kyiv by the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
This was reported by Bloomberg today, August 27, citing its own sources.
The agency's interlocutor said that the agenda of the Ukrainian delegation's visit will likely focus on security guarantees and the upcoming bilateral meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and russian dictator vladimir putin.
Earlier, the White House stated that, in its opinion, putin agreed to meet with Zelenskyy and that planning for the meeting is already underway. The Kremlin, in turn, did not confirm any such commitments.
Bloomberg notes that the Ukrainian delegation will arrive amid intense discussions following a high-level meeting between Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump and European leaders on August 18.
The agency writes that while Trump insists on reaching an agreement to end the war as soon as possible, Ukraine's allies are focused on determining the security guarantees they can provide.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier today, August 27, US President's special envoy Witkoff announced a meeting with Ukrainian representatives. It will take place this week in New York.
Recall, on August 22, US President Trump said that in two weeks he would know where to move on the issue of the war between russia and Ukraine.
Also on August 22, Politico reported, citing its own sources, that Trump believes that Ukraine will be forced to accept russia's conditions to end the war.
