NABU state that they assisted competition commission in selecting new director of ESB, who became detective of bureau

The competition commission for the position of director of the Economic Security Bureau (ESB) asked the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) to assist in the selection of the new director.

This is stated in the NABU report for the first half of 2025, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The competition commission for the position of director of the ESB even concluded a memorandum with the NABU on this issue.

"...assistance by the National Bureau in conducting the selection by the Competition Commission for the position of Director of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine," the report states.

At the same time, there is no such clause in the law on the NABU.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the candidate for the position of director of the ESB, Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi, passed a polygraph test at a time when his wife is a well-known polygraph examiner of Ukraine. The wife of the new director of the Economic Security Bureau, Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi, keeps money in a bank that previously belonged to oligarch Ihor Kolomoiskyi and his partner Hennadii Boholiubov. In 2023, the new head of the Economic Security Bureau, Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi, failed to pass the interview during the competition for the position of director of NABU. The National Agency for Corruption Prevention, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Economic Security Bureau are currently headed by former employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
