Zelenskyy appoints Ambassador to Norway Havrysh as Ambassador to Iceland

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Ambassador to Norway Oleksii Havriyh as Ambassador to Iceland concurrently. This is stated in Decree No. 659 of August 25, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"To appoint Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Norway Oleksii Petrovych Havrysh as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Iceland on a part-time basis," the document states.

40-year-old Havrysh was appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Norway on April 7, 2025.

He was born on February 7, 1985 in the village of Bilenke, Donetsk Region.

He graduated from the Donetsk National University of Management with a degree in "Management of Foreign Economic Activity" (bachelor and master's degree). In 2025, he received a second higher education in the field of energy at the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas.

He began his professional career in the field of foreign economic activity, held managerial positions at CJSC "ARS", LLC "DTEK", LLC "Investments and Development".

In 2022, he became a member of the board of LLC "Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine" (Naftogaz Group), where in 2025 he became the chairman of the board.

In 2024, he was elected chairman of the supervisory board of JSC "Zaporizhtransformator".

During 2023–2024, he was an advisor to the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Havrysh is a lecturer in financial management at the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School, author of the course "Financial Literacy for the Military".

Previously, the Ambassador to Iceland was the Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland.

In accordance with the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the issue of consular services for citizens of Ukraine who permanently or temporarily reside in the territory of Iceland has been assigned to the competence of the Embassy of Ukraine in Norway since June 16, 2024.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May 2024 in Stockholm, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Iceland Bjarni Benediktsson signed an agreement on security cooperation and long-term support, which provides for Iceland to provide Ukraine with at least ISK 4 billion (almost USD 30 million) annually during 2024–2028.
