Ukraine ready to meet with putin in any format and geographical region – Sybiha

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and European allies, in which he confirmed readiness for meetings with the aggressor state russia at the level of leaders in any format and geographical region. He also outlined Ukraine's position on security guarantees.

He wrote about this on X.

Sybiha reported that he took part in a telephone conversation dedicated to the path to peace and security guarantees for Ukraine with the participation of the US and European allies. The conversation was based on previous contacts of the leaders, the successful visit of President Zelenskyy to Washington, and the work of national security advisers.

"I reaffirmed that Ukraine is ready to take next steps to peace. We are ready for meetings at the level of leaders in any formats and geographies. We are ready to put an end to the killing and give diplomacy a chance," the message said.

In addition, Sybiha emphasized in the conversation Ukraine's position that security guarantees must be specific, legally binding and effective. They must be multidimensional, including military, diplomatic, legal and other levels.

"We all share the conviction that the Ukrainian army is the fundamental level of any such guarantees, therefore its maximum strengthening is our top priority," he added.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister also emphasized that moscow should know that "it cannot drag its feet forever."

"If Russia continues to reject meaningful, constructive steps toward peace, it must face consequences: severe increase in sanctions and strengthening for Ukraine's capabilities," he concluded.

The phone call was organized by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio together with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, British Foreign Minister David Lammy, and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas.

Sybiha thanked allies for their support and added that Ukraine remains committed to its role as a contributor to transatlantic security and a reliable ally.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul is demanding that russian dictator vladimir putin hold swift bilateral talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Meanwhile, ISW noted that the Foreign Minister of the aggressor state russia, Sergei Lavrov, used an interview in English with the American media NBC to reiterate the kremlin's categorical rejection of the US-proposed peace initiatives in Ukraine.
